The Penguin SCIENCE NEWS Periodicals

'SN' 1 - 54

The Penguin SCIENCE NEWS was the longest running of all Penguin Periodicals. SN1 was published in June 1946, the final issue, SN54 appeared in March 1960. This attractive series was aimed at the general reader, and provided articles on a wide range of scientific subjects. There were four sets of editors, commencing with John Enogat. A printing dispute in 1959 led to one of the four periodicals not being published, and the next year, the project was called to a halt. Each of the little books also usually contained 16, or sometimes 8, pages of photographic plates - giving a fascinating insight into the various topics discussed.

We are pleased to provide a list of contents for each issue of the periodical. This not only helps identify individual items (contributions and contributors) but also provides a flavour of what was contemporary.
