PENGUIN COLLECTORS' SOCIETY 'NEWSLETTER' and 'COLLECTOR'

This Page: PCS 'Newsletter'

PCS miscellaneous publications

The Penguin Collectors' Society (PCS) was formed in 1973. The PCS published a Newsletter twice a year for its members. There were a series of editors: Alec Atchison produced the first ten, followed by Andrew Dalby for the next ten. Richard Hazelhurst took over from Newsletter No. 21, and Sally Wood became editor from issue No. 28. Each editor left their own mark, and the cover of the 'Newsletter' changed slightly each time. The biggest change came with Steve Hare taking over from issue No. 41. The 'Newsletter' under Steve changed persona, becoming 'The Penguin Collector', and took on a more traditional Penguin style cover. This style was continued by the previous editor Jo Lunt (Nos. 55 - 86) and by the current editor, James Mackay (from No. 87), though with the occasional specially designed cover in one of the Penguin former house styles.

We are grateful for permission to reproduce the 'contents' of each Newsletter. The data (for issues 1-73) was compiled by Rachel Hassall (2010) for the Penguin Archive Project, University of Bristol Library.

Some copies of the Penguin Collector's Society 'Newsletter' and 'The Penguin Collector' are still available from the PCS website: click here
